A film adaptation of Jane Austen’s short novel Lady Susan
Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny wear period gowns as they prepare to shoot scenes on Dublin set of Jane Austen adaptation Love And Friendship
The period set was readied as Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny prepared to shoot new scenes for forthcoming drama Love And Friendship on Wednesday.
The co-stars were dressed in character ahead of an exterior shoot in Dublin, and both caught the eye as they sashayed across set in their sweeping period gowns.
Kate plays central character Lady Susan Vernon in the new film, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s short novel Lady Susan, originally published in 1871.
Described as a beautiful widow, Lady Susan seeks refuge on a family estate after society rumours circulate regarding her private life.
But while seeking temporary refuge from gossip, she makes the bold decision to find a husband for herself and her daughter Frederica, played by Morfydd Clark.
The film will also star Stephen Fry as Mr. Johnson, Xavier Samuel as her brother Reginald and American actress Chloe as Alicia – an intimate friend in whom Lady Susan confides.
Joining Kate on Wednesday, Chloe completed her own period costume with a jaunty hat as they idled between takes.
Kate, who appeared to be clutching a page from the shooting script, shared a joke with her co-star as they stood close to a horse and carriage.
The pair later chatted to members of the production team while preparing for a new scene, with Kate keeping her flowing dress hidden beneath an ankle length coat.
