The Hertfordshire village is changing its name for a week in February to promote the hit HBO fantasy series

A pretty village in rural Hertfordshire is set to get a Game of Thrones-style makeover next month... But residents of Kings Langley will be relieved to hear their fantasy themed transformation won't include violence, bloodshed or the arrival of fiery-tongued dragons. Instead, Kings Langley, which sits around two miles north of Watford, is set to change its name to Kings Landing, the royal capital of the seven kingdoms of Westeros. That's right, the village, which already sounds remarkably similar to the fictional city, will officially be known as Kings Landing for one week in February, as part of a push to promote the release of series three of Game of Thrones on DVD. Apparently, a producer for the hit HBO show heard the town listed as a stop while waiting for a train at London's Euston station and was inspired to instigate the name change. With the fourth series of Game of Thrones set to air later this year, fantasy fever is likely on the rise. Winterbourne, Saltash and Harlow will be Winterfell, Saltcliffe and Harlaw before we know it. Seriously. Watch this space.
