Is House of Cards the greatest TV drama of the binge watching era? We might very well think that. Could you possibly comment?
The Netflix original series has come top in a Radio Times list of the 100 Greatest TV Shows to Watch Now, the ultimate bucket list of must-see series available on demand in 2015.
"This isn’t merely a great show. House of Cards signals the new online era," said Radio Times critic Jonathan Holmes. "It is the first programme to perfect 'binge-watching', which began as everyone’s shameful secret and has become this generation’s defining verb."
The whole of season three of the political thriller starring the Golden Globe-winning Kevin Spacey will be available to watch on Netflix from 27 February, meaning there is no better time to start streaming.
BBC drama Sherlock, available on Netflix and Amazon and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, came a close second, while luxurious Downton Abbey predecessor Brideshead Revisited rounded off the top three.
The Top 10 included great American serials Mad Men and The Wire, brilliant box set comedies Peep Show and Frasier, crime classic Inspector Morse, Sex and The City and British genre smasher Life on Mars.
All the shows listed in the Top 100 are available on streaming services such as Netflix, 4oD or Amazon Prime Instant Video, on demand services from Sky and other broadcasters, or download stores such as iTunes.
